“#TimeToTalkAboutThis.”
That was the hashtag St. Catharines councillor Lori Littleton concluded her tweet with, but before the week was concluded she had announced her non-reelection and deleted the tweet.
Not time to talk about it, after all.
The tweet contained a photo of a man on a overpass holding two flags next to a pickup truck. One flag was the “Don’t Tread on Me” Gadsden flag, and the other says in white text on black:
“Fuck Trudeau And If You like Trudeau Fuck You Too”
some dude’s flag
“About 6 people thinking their freedom includes holding up traffic on the #QEW — and waving a white supremacist flag. We have a lot of work to do,” tweeted councillor Littleton.
The tweet subsequently became controversial.
Two days later, Littleton posted a letter of non-reelection which made a series statements “with a heavy heart”. She wrote that her out-of-work activities must be approved by her employer, and :
“with an increase of vexatious and frivolous codes of conduct being filed against councillors and mayors — sometimes for no reason other than someone doesn’t like a councilor or their views — this is not something I can potentially be exposed to”

By Wednesday evening, the “#TimeToTalkAboutthis” tweet was deleted.
